The Equipment You Need to Make a Game

The Equipment You Need to Make a Game

Soccer has been all over the headlines these days. Whether it was for the World Cup or the soccer team trapped in Thailand. If soccer has peaked your interest, you are not alone. Depending on the type of game, anyone can start playing today. I will outline the gear that you need to hit the field right now.

Shin guards: You can find shin guards at any sports store: Academy, Walmart, or the like. It is a simple piece of gear to protect yourself from others kicking you in the shin. Though you don’t necessarily need them to start playing, it sure will help protect your shins.

Long Socks: If you use shin guards, longer socks will help cover your guard and hold it in place. You will generally see soccer player sporting knee-high socks for this reason.

Shoes: Though you can start playing without cleats (shoes with small protrusions on the bottom of the shoe to dig into the ground), it is commonly used for pick up games. They help you run faster and generate traction on the field.

Ball: Whether you are playing informally or formally, you will need a ball. Balls come in different sizes. Though it technically doesn’t matter when you are playing

Size 5 ball for a game of 11 players v 11

Size 4 ball for a game of 7 players v 7

Size 3 ball for a game of 5 players v 5

Players: Depending on the type of game you play, you will at the minimum need 10 players total: 11 v 11, 7 v 7, 5 v 5.

Goal: Though it´s not hard to make, you will need a goal. It can be official or just two markers, like cones or rocks. Easy but necessary.

Game on!
