Types of Games You Can Play

Low and behold, a formal game of 11 versus 11 is not the only type of soccer game you can play. You can play several different variations of soccer. Each game has slightly different rules, number of players, and sizes (of balls and fields). Though the differences can seem basic, I will review them here.

11 v 11: 11 players against 11 following the formal rules.

7 v 7: 7 players versus 7 following the same rules as 11 v11 except there is no offsides in this game.

5 v 5: 5 players versus 5. The field for this game is quite small so the rules reflect that. Each time the ball is put back into play you cannot kick the ball across half of the field with the first kick. Also, you cannot throw the ball across the line when you are throwing the ball back into play. You must shoot your goals from the goal area.

Casual like street soccer—It is played anywhere, and you make your own rules.
